Military Vehicles for Sale

Military VehiclesAre you searching the military vehicles market for something specific?  Or are you gaining a general idea of what is currently available?  The good news is that there is a wide variety of military vehicles for you to consider.

A good place to begin is to decide on your budget.  There are military vehicles for sale that are surprisingly affordable, and you’ll be amazed at what you can get for under $20,000.  Of course, if money isn’t the issue, you might consider military tanks or fully-armored military hummers to start your collection or to add to it.

Once you’ve established your budget, do you know how you want to use any military vehicles you purchase?  Some are easier to make street legal than others.  Military Hummers (Humvees) will need to be modified to be more like their civilian counterparts, but many military trucks and jeeps will transition easily to the civilian roads.  If you only plan to use military vehicles on private land, your options are greater.

Collectable Models

Here is a list of some of the most collectable military vehicles on the market.

  • Humvees: Most popular models include M1025, M1026, M998 Avenger and the  M1043 with supplemental armor.
  • Jeeps and Similar: WWII Willys MB or M-170, Ford Mutts and M-151 models from most years.
  • Light Trucks and Tactical Trucks: Second World War era trucks, and later models from Ford, Dodge WC Series and others.
  • Heavy Trucks: Cargo trucks from World War II and beyond.
  • Miscellaneous: Daimler-Benz Unimog, Chenoweth Fast Attack vehicle, 6x6 tractor trucks.

As you peruse the military vehicles marketplace, you will find many that can be arranged more broadly by categories such as:

  • Armored Personnel Carriers (APC)
  • Armored Recovery Vehicles (ARV)
  • Light Armored Vehicles (LAV)
  • Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles (EFV)
  • Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV)

Finding the Right Military Vehicle

Locating military vehicles for sale isn’t hard.  You’ll often find a good selection on eBay.  Specialty dealers often have their own websites as well, though most of them put their inventory on eBay.  If you have a specific vehicle in mind, from a limited number of production years that make them more rare, you may have a challenge to find the one you want in the condition you desire.  Of course, if you have restoration skills or are prepared to pay to have it restored, then you have more options since some of these older vehicles are in pretty rough condition.

If  you have a more open mind and are willing to consider something close but not identical, then you may find a good deal on military vehicles you will ultimately love.  For example, while most collectors would prefer a Willys to a Mutt, sometimes budget or availability makes a Willys tough to get. The Ford Mutt is comparable and has become a favorite for many collectors.  That same principle applies across the board to the various types of military vehicles for sale.

Do your homework on what is available on the military vehicles market.  Find out what condition any vehicle is in before you purchase, so you know if you’ll also have the funds to get it restored to its original splendor!
