Find A Jeep Club Near You! Congratulations! You have a Jeep, and now, you are looking for somewhere to go with it, and for people that have the same passion about their Jeeps as you. It’s a Jeep ThingIf you have a Jeep 4x4, you have probably already realized that you have joined a group of people that are unique from most other car owners – you’ve joined the Jeep family. There are numerous cars with “It’s A Jeep Thing, You Wouldn’t Understand” plastered across their windshield proving this point. Jeep owners love their Jeeps with a close to unrivaled passion, and if you have received the Jeep Wave already, you know you have been accepted with open arms into this elite camaraderie. The Jeep 4x4 family has a special bond with each other, and the Wave is the very first part in taking part. If you are confused as to what the Jeep Wave is, search Google.com for ‘Jeep Wave’ or check out http://www.jeepinwave.com/waverules.shtml for more information so that you can get started participating in the easiest of Jeep bonding rituals.
Jeep Jamboree So you are now doing the official Jeep wave, and are looking for something a bit more… perhaps something along the lines of a huge Jeep off-roading event, where you follow trails in your Jeep. Try looking into http://jeepjamboreeusa.com/. Here, anyone who owns a Jeep can take place in a two day event geared for the entire family. With the ability to meet so many Jeep owners with the same love and passion of their vehicles as you, you can network to find people and clubs near you – some of which may be run by the very same people you just spent the entire weekend with – groups that do this on a smaller scale much more often than once or twice a year.
The Primary SearchWant more still? Try checking out message boards. Google some terms such as “It’s A Jeep Thing”, “Jeep Wave”, “Army Jeep Message Boards”, or simply “Jeep Club” and the city or state in which you reside. Google and other search engines are always full results for Jeep clubs. One site that is very helpful in hosting a long list of Jeep Clubs is About.com: 4-Wheel Drive / Offroading. Hosting several pages of links that direct you to various Jeep groups, About.com’s list should be able to direct you to a group near you.
Another site to look at is Jeep Clubs at ajeepthing.com. It covers Jeep clubs in the Canadian Provinces and the United States. It also provides links to clubs that are located internationally and online. The Yahoo! Online groups are separated by the different types of Jeep owned, so you can pick a group that specializes in the Jeep that you have.
Check local newspapers for advertisements or listings. Oftentimes clubs will advertise events within their local newspapers to get the attention of people that they may not necessarily have been able to reach by any other means. Therefore, it pays to take the old-fashioned way of reading things in print while doing a search for clubs. Still Nothing? You’ve searched and searched the internet. You’re frustrated. Your head hurts. And you’ve lost hope of finding someone nearby which shares the same love of Jeeps as yourself. Don’t despair! There are a few ways to exhaust all the possibilities.
1. Go to your local Jeep dealer and ask them, very simply, where the closest Jeep club is based. Jeep owners have to get their Jeeps somewhere, and most of the salesmen at such a company own Jeeps or know several people that do. Chances are they will be familiar with the Jeep clubs around you. You won’t be the first, or last, person to ask them such a question; and, if they don’t know the answer, see if they can advise you who you can talk to.
2. Get online, find a handful of Jeep clubs that are close to you (e.g., if you live in SE Pennsylvania, find groups in Ohio and West Virginia) and contact them to see if they ever partner up with any groups that might not have websites from your general area. Networking is something Jeep groups tend to do – the more Jeeps that can get together, the happier the groups. Therefore, these groups have a good feeling of where other groups around them are located.
3. Still nothing? There is a solution – create your own group! Find a website that allows you to create free web pages, then advertise and go to all those places you tried to find a group through, giving them your webpage so that they can find you. Chances are, if you have been searching for a nearby group, others have as well.
Good luck, and happy Jeeping! |
