Ready for the Eco-Jeep? Well, here it is. The new Jeep EV is Chrysler’s new electric Jeep. A four-passenger SUV, the new Jeep EV has both two-wheel and four-wheel drive, electric propulsion, and is classified as an extended range electric vehicle. Sound pretty cool? It has 268 horsepower, 400 N•m (295 lbs.-ft.) of torque, and, with the electric-run system, it has regenerative braking! The Jeep EV has a lithium-ion battery, and you can charge it in two types of outlets with its dual voltage onboard charger: the 110/120 volt outlet, which is the typical household power outlet, and the 220/240 volt outlet, which is what you use for household appliances. Who would have thought twenty years ago that we would be able to plug our cars in to the wall to charge them?
Not cool enough yet? The Jeep EV goes from zero to sixty in 9 seconds, and has a quarter-mile acceleration of 16.5 seconds. It can reach top speeds of up to 90 miles per hour, and has a city range of about 400 miles, more than 40 of which are all electric. All of this on less than ten gallons of gas. What an invention! Now, we can do our part in keeping the environment clean and healthy, all while saving ourselves some money. Does it really get any better than this? |
